EPISODE #57: Houston, We Have a Problem…

This podcast discusses the importance of being able to identify when we have a problem and how best to get diagnostic clarification. We also discuss how, in our efforts to build more inclusive supports and services, we sometimes become more exclusionary by requiring prenatal exposures to be confirmed before getting a full assessment. We discuss the importance of this in terms of prevention and resources etc.

We also explore how we can still seek comprehensive assessment and mitigate risk of added stigma and in some cases doing more harm than good when we just address symptoms and the complex neurodevelopmental disorder rather than the specific cause. There are also other times when we simply will not have access to pregnancy records… some will never know... so then what?

Something to think about!
