Conference Sessions presented by Angela Geddes

PRESENTATION #1

Building Community Capacity for Multidisciplinary FASD Assessment Services in Ontario

Learning Objective: Attendees of the training will have improved competence and confidence to contribute to FASD assessments, particularly in the context of multidisciplinary teams in community settings.

Conclusions: This virtual training offers a unique perspective on FASD assessment by exploring the complexities of conducting assessments in the community. By doing so, it extends beyond traditional training and offers valuable insights to clinicians in Ontario and beyond.

PRESENTATION #2

Acceptance and Commitment Training for Women Caregivers of People with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: A Feasibility Study

Authors: Brianne Redquest, Kenneth Fung, Yona Lunsky, Angela Geddes, & Johanna Lake

Objectives: To describe the process of adapting an ACT intervention together with caregivers of children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), and present early results on its feasibility including initial clinical outcome data.

Conclusion: Given the high rates of mental health distress that women caregivers of children with FASD experience, offering ACT workshops to this group is a promising approach.
